Swine Flu Scams

flu-virus

Unfortunately, scammers are trying to make a buck off this epidemic.  The Better Business Bureau states that scammers are offering swine flu survival kits, handbooks, you name it, per Pamela Yip from the Dallas Morning News.

BBB offer several tips on avoiding scammers:

• Don’t open e-mail from an unknown source and don’t click on any links in the body of the e-mail or open any attachments. Instead, delete the e-mail or report it to the Federal Trade Commission by forwarding it to spam@uce.gov.

• Don’t believe online offers for vaccinations against swine flu. There is no vaccine to protect humans from swine flu.

• Make sure your anti-virus and anti-spyware software are up-to-date and all operating system security patches have been installed.

Christopher Butterfield Hoax On Facebook

facebook-logo1

Some of you may have received the following message on Facebook: “Do not accept a friend request from a CHRISTOPHER BUTTERFIELD he is a hacker. Tell everyone on your list because if somebody on your list adds him u get him on your list too and he’ll figure out ur computer’s ID and address, so copy and paste this message to everyone even if u don’t care for them cause if he hacks their email he hacks your mail too! SEND TO ALL FRIENDS

This message is FALSE and a HOAX.  Remember to be sure you know the person you are accepting as a friend on all social networks.  Having 1,000 friends on your social networks isn’t as important as the safety of your account and  personal safety.  While you’re having fun networking, I can’t stress it enough, PLEASE USE CAUTION!!
